By Di of Q.
In Time, Di of Q. celebrates the arrival of a baby through playful language and joyful wordplay. Moving between “time,” “emit,” “item” and “mite,” the poem transforms related letters and sounds into an expression of love, gratitude and celebration for new life.
Time… emit… item… mite
Ohhhhh! Our sweet little baby is such a little mite!
Isn’t it our eyes’ joy to gaze at our lovely item!
Let’s not drown it in stretched time
That its laugh’s joy it may not emit!
Such a sweet smile is its cheerful item
To play and laugh with all the time
Ohhhhh yes, it’s our little baby mite
Behold our applause and cheers to emit!
Blessings are sweetly abounding to its arrival time
This wailing bundle of joy is come as a little mite
To each and all of us to loudly holler welcome yells to emit
As we fall over each other with joy for the most wonderful item!
Let’s celebrate our sweet little baby mite
With infectious grace, love and joy every time,
We’re truly blessed to have this baby as our precious item!
Gracious Father, ours is forever infinite gratitude to emit!
