Her Majesty

Her Majesty

By Jude Cipher

What makes someone truly royal? In “Her Majesty,” Jude Cipher celebrates a woman whose beauty, kindness and quiet strength inspire admiration beyond material wealth. Through the imagery of flowers, diamonds and a crown, the poem explores devotion, companionship and the desire to honour a loved one as a queen.

Tell me what you want,
I want I’ll give it to you.
Is it a flower that you want?
Then I’ll give you a meadow in full bloom.

Is it a gold necklace that you desire?
Then I shall give you a vault of diamonds
And finest jewellery.

If the price to pay is my blood,
Then take it.
If my soul, then take it.

Anything for the person
Who soothes me from the darkest hours,
Brightens my eyes
And lightens my burdens.

In your black skirt, people see a disgrace.
In my eyes, I see flawless beauty at its peak,
An embodiment of purity,
An idol of solidarity,
The eminence of justice,
Goddess of solitude.

For if I were sent to hell with
The most evil of demons,
I would brag to them
Of how I saw heaven in your eyes
And how angelic your heart is.

Even though we might never
Be bound together as lovers,
I know we shall forever
Be the best of friends,
In sickness and in health,
In happiness and in suffering.

I take thy hand in this royal agreement,
As poet, I write the lyrics and chronicles
Of your smiles and laughs.
As poet takes yaa royal hand as queen
To embark on the crazy adventures
In this kingdom come,
Forever together, crown and quill.
