In this romantic love poem, a young poet compares the beauty of someone special to roses, stars and heavenly melodies, only to discover that true beauty reaches far beyond appearance.

Roses are red,
and violets are blue,
but none of their beauty
compares to you.

For yours is a beauty
that cannot be captured by colour,
nor measured by sweet fragrance.

It lives in your glowing smile
that brightens even the darkest days,
in a tender heart that remains steady,
and in a cheerful spirit
that refuses to give up.

Roses are red,
and violets are blue,
but none of them can amaze me
the way your smile does.

None of them can make my day
the way your voice does.

A voice so gentle and beautiful,
it feels as though it were borrowed
from the songs of angels—

a melody written
by heaven itself.

Roses are red,
and violets are blue,
but those who are truly like you
are few.

And if there are others who shine,
few could ever shine as brightly.

Because the way you glow
makes me forget
there is a sun in the sky
or a moon watching over the night.

Even the stars
seem to lose their sparkle,
humbled by the beauty
that rests upon your face.

Roses are red,
and violets are blue,
but none of them
are like me and you.

We are like ink and paper,
like flesh and skin—

two things
that belong together.

And so I pray
I never lose you.

Because from the moment
I met you,
my fears became lighter
and my world became brighter.

Roses are red,
and violets are blue,
but you are beautiful.

And if I ever said otherwise before,
forgive me,
for I must have been mistaken.

Because if I speak
from my heart,
the truth will always remain:

You are a beautiful little rose,
a rare flower
in a garden of many—

a beauty not just seen
by the eyes,

but felt
by the soul.

This piece set in gentle and quiet like a thief in the night but now glows on a Fasihi page. Thank you Mr. Matogo Philip and your team.
