Ten years can transform a dream into a legacy. In A Decade of Excellence, Godwin the Poet celebrates a school’s 10th anniversary and the journey that began with a simple vision. The poem honours ten years of education, growth, achievement and service. It also celebrates the teachers, parents, guardians and learners who have helped the school grow.
At the heart of the poem is the school motto, “We toil to excel.” It reminds every learner that excellence comes through hard work, discipline and determination. As the school celebrates its past, the poem also looks towards a future filled with greater dreams and opportunities.
Ten years ago, a dream was born,
A little seed was carefully sown.
With hope and courage lighting the way,
A school began its journey one bright day.
Today we gather, proud and strong,
To celebrate where we belong.
Ten years of learning, growth and grace,
Ten years of building a brighter place.
Here we learn to read and write,
To seek the truth and reach new heights.
To think, to dream, to work and grow,
Preparing for the world we soon will know.
“We toil to excel,” our motto proudly says,
Guiding our footsteps through all our days.
For success is not a gift we wait to receive,
But a mountain we climb when we work and believe.
With exemplary education as our guiding light,
We prepare our learners for tomorrow’s fight.
To face life’s challenges, brave and wise,
With knowledge, courage and dreams that rise.
We are taught not only to succeed,
But to serve our country in thought and deed.
With strong moral values deep in our hearts,
We learn that true greatness is where goodness starts.
For Uganda, our beautiful land,
Needs young people ready to take a stand.
To build, to lead, to care and create,
And carry our nation to a greater state.
To our teachers, patient, loving and true,
This celebration belongs to you too.
You have watered the seeds with knowledge and care,
And helped us discover the gifts that we bear.
To our parents and guardians standing near,
Thank you for every sacrifice made through the years.
Through your support and faith so strong,
You have helped this great school journey along.
Ten years behind us, but greater days ahead,
With bigger dreams and paths to tread.
We shall continue to learn and grow,
And let the light of excellence always show.
So today we celebrate with voices high,
With grateful hearts beneath Uganda’s sky.
A decade of purpose, achievement and pride,
With hope and excellence walking side by side.
Ten years of learning, ten years of growth,
Ten years of keeping our noble oath.
To work, to dream, to rise and excel,
And build tomorrow’s world well.
