Ambition can inspire people to take on challenges they once thought impossible. However, when expectations become overwhelming, confidence can quickly turn into uncertainty.
In Dear Friday, Lorna Bees questions whether she has taken on more than she can manage. Through self-doubt, frustration and exhaustion, she captures the uncomfortable experience of wondering whether ambition has become a burden.
Was I going through some sort of grandiosity, thinking too big of myself or overhyping myself into doing something that is now draining me six feet below?
Or am I just self-sabotaging myself, dragging my feet miles behind, because I am beginning to fall apart in my own vomit and can’t even blame it on a midlife crisis?
I took a day off to understand all this and still stayed unsettled like a needle in a haystack.
For crying out loud,
How will I manage?
Not today,
Lorna Bees
