Born pre-mature

BORN A PREMATURE 52 YEARS AGO!

By Johnson Maganja

Push… push… push… said the nurse!

The pain was too much… the 7-month premature baby had a deformed head!

He was placed in an incubator.

Many said that he wouldn’t live long!

She refused to believe this!

Faith Jolly Namara deeply believed that her second-born child would live on!

Months later, the newborn child’s head was tearing apart! The baby had big palms.

He was named ‘Maganja’ by his grandfather because he had big palms.

She got more worried but never gave up!

Grace Turyangenda, wife to Reverend Jackson Turyangenda in Mukono, advised Faith to use herbal medicine for the infant’s head to get healed.

The infant later got healed!

The baby was given the name Grace after the Reverend’s wife.

He was called Johnson because he was John’s son.

The father was called Johnson Elisham Mushekuura.

Today, Johnson Grace Maganja is a book author!

Rest in peace, Mummy (1993).

Rest in peace, Daddy (1997).

I dedicate this poem to both of you.
