By Lorna Bees
How deep can a person fall and still remain within the reach of God? In Yahweh, Lorna Bees builds her poem around one recurring assurance: “There’s never a pit too deep for the hand of Yahweh to reach out.” Moving through darkness, tears, worship, Scripture, faith and spiritual endurance, the poem becomes a declaration of hope for anyone trying to find light in a difficult season.
Even though there was no light,
Even though nothing was ever bright,
Even though everything looked like night,
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
I never shied from smiling,
Yet my heart carried no light.
Everything looked like night.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
To soak in worship is true prayer.
To soak in worship is true praise.
To soak in worship is true Scripture.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
I dried my tears in Your Scripture.
We dried our tears in Your purpose.
They dried their tears in Your quest.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
Time to be strong.
Time to stand strong.
Time to stay strong.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
I dwell in the secret place.
We align with the perfect will of God.
They speak a heavenly language.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
We trust beyond our abilities.
Have faith the size of a mustard seed.
Allow Yahweh to iron out the wrinkles.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
He who lights the path
Never blocks destiny.
He who was a cloud by day
And fire by night.
He who knows the end
Before the beginning.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
To soak in worship is true prayer.
To soak in worship is true praise.
To soak in worship is true Scripture.
There’s never a pit too deep for the hand
Of Yahweh to reach out.
