By Lorna Bees
How do we describe a voice that speaks through parables, creation, mystery and truth? In He Speaks, Lorna Bees reflects on Christ through biblical images and expressions of worship. From the Father’s house to creation, the Trinity and the praise of nature, the poem presents a speaker standing in wonder before a God whose presence seems to reach into everything.
He speaks a different language,
Of parables and proverbs,
Of unapologetic grammar.
He says,
“In my Father’s house
There are many mansions.”
He knows the beginning
Before the end,
The same yesterday,
Today and tomorrow.
The Son of God,
The Son of Man,
The Son of David.
He numbers everything:
The morning,
The afternoon,
The evening,
The days of creation,
The hairs on your head,
Even the leaves that fall.
The embodiment of the Trinity,
Three in one
And one for all.
He is worshipped
In spirit and truth.
With two wings,
They covered their faces
And bowed down
Before the Creator.
Even the rocks
Can cry out in praise.
The birds of the sky
Dwell between the springs
And sing among the foliage.
I still stand amazed.
Do you?
