Alex Ahabwe is a Ugandan-Canadian entrepreneur, seasoned international banker, financial literacy educator, and community advocate based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, who has previously stayed and lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Born in Western Uganda, Africa, and raised amid economic hardship and limited opportunities, he has been shaped by resilience, honesty, Trust, transparency, credibility, education, and a deep commitment to empowering underserved communities.
Family
Born to the late Amos Sampura Gorogoza Kahemba and Mrs. Victo Kemirembe Bambiha, Ahabwe was raised in an extended family environment, growing up alongside relatives and grandparents and within the homes of many family members, a true reflection of the African saying that “a child is raised by a community.” This upbringing shaped his values of community, resilience, responsibility, and togetherness. He is married to Andolyne Kyabishiki, and together they are blessed with one daughter, Eliora Arinda Ahabwe.
Work Experience
With more than a decade of experience spanning banking, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and diaspora engagement, Ahabwe has served with leading financial institutions across Africa and Canada, including the top two Canadian banks, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), and, in a managerial capacity, at TD Canada Trust (TD Bank).
Ahabwe Alex was also brand Ambassador for foreign banks and remittance App for Canada and North America region
Before relocating to Canada, among other professional engagements, he held leadership positions at Opportunity Bank Uganda, where he managed a branch, supervised and managed education finance products, led high-performing teams, and played a pivotal role in the development, orchestration, introduction, and launch of products, projects, initiatives, solutions, and programs designed to support, empower, and transform marginalized individuals and communities.
This work involved collaborating with organizations such as Opportunity International, Rotary International, the Mastercard Foundation, and other local and international institutions to advance access to education and financial services for underserved communities. It also encompassed training, public speaking, advocacy, promotion, campaign leadership, and championing these initiatives while representing them on both local and international platforms.
Ahabwe is also a certified Financial Literacy Trainer accredited by the Bank of Uganda and was among the panelists and the team that spearheaded the production of “Be Money Wiser” on UBC TV and U24TV. This financial education television program reached audiences across more than 10 African countries, equipping youth, women, families, refugees, and entrepreneurs with practical tools for budgeting, saving, investing, and informed financial decision-making.
He is the Founder & CEO of Loyalty Solutions Inc., a Canadian diversified venture with operations in fintech, logistics, tourism, hospitality, event planning and management, employment agency and services, and coffee trade. Through ventures such as Money Wing, Ahabwe focuses on building culturally grounded financial solutions that enable immigrants and diaspora communities to better navigate cross-border financial systems and economic opportunities.
Money Wing is a fintech platform built on a structured phased model centered on remittance infrastructure and financial literacy. The platform is designed to foster and promote trust, transparency, and long-term reliability within diaspora communities while strengthening diaspora financial engagement and facilitating the flow of capital to home countries.
Its phased model encompasses financial literacy webinars, a published/authored financial literacy book developed as part of the platform’s broader financial empowerment mission, an online financial literacy platform/school, and a secure remittance infrastructure aimed at empowering diaspora communities through financial education and accessible financial services.
The authored book further reinforces Money Wing’s commitment to financial literacy and serves as an extension of its vision to advance financial awareness, inclusion, and economic empowerment within immigrant and diaspora communities.
A passionate advocate for economic inclusion and social impact, Ahabwe is actively engaged in newcomer support initiatives, Black community advancement programs, and cultural leadership organizations across Canada. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Toronto and serves in various community leadership capacities, including as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Director, Board Chair, and Board Member within several Black-led organizations. Through these engagements, he continues to champion Culture, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and innovation as instrumental catalysts for sustainable empowerment, socioeconomic advancement, and long-term transformational impact.

Ahabwe holds a Bachelor’s from Makerere University -Uganda, a Diploma, and a Postgraduate qualification from Canada, and is pursuing a Global MBA at Hult International Business School-USA, majoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He holds numerous certifications and has gone through top accelerators, hubs, and Fellowships in Canada and the USA
He holds numerous professional certifications and has participated in, completed, and been selected for several highly competitive accelerators, innovation hubs, leadership institutes, entrepreneurial ecosystems, fellowship programs, venture development cohorts, and capacity-building initiatives across Canada, the United States, and Africa.
Over the years, he has intentionally immersed himself in intensive training programs focused on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, venture creation, technology commercialization, innovation management, fintech, startup development, leadership, governance, and community impact. These experiences have significantly strengthened his strategic, entrepreneurial, and leadership capabilities while positioning him within some of the most dynamic innovation and business ecosystems.

Through these rigorous programs, fellowships, and leadership engagements, he has continued to refine his expertise in venture development, financial empowerment, innovation strategy, business leadership, ecosystem building, and community-centered entrepreneurship, while collaborating with founders, innovators, researchers, executives, and changemakers from diverse sectors and international markets.
Diaspora Money is inspired by both his professional experience and lived journey navigating migration, identity, financial pressure, entrepreneurship, and the realities of supporting families across continents.
NAUCA
NAUCA serves as an important umbrella platform that brings together Ugandan-Canadian associations and community leaders across Canada. It creates opportunities for cultural preservation, networking, mentorship, collaboration, youth engagement, business partnerships, and a stronger collective voice for the Ugandan-Canadian community nationally. Being part of NAUCA also allows member associations to support one another, share resources, and build long-term impact together.
