Edna Kusiima is a Ugandan writer, poetry and literary enthusiast whose love for words has been nurtured through more than a decade of involvement in Uganda’s poetry and literary community. She is a founding member of the Uganda Poetry Society and has supported the growth of poetry and creative expression through both her writing and volunteer work.

Edna has contributed to the poetry community in various capacities, including volunteering with Open Mic Uganda, Teens Poetry Slam, and supporting the marketing and visibility of Fasihi Magazine and the Uganda Poetry Society. She also contributed to the preparations of the Fasihi First Masterclass, among other literary initiatives.

As a writer, Edna enjoys exploring the ordinary, the personal and the spiritual, often turning everyday experiences into reflective pieces. Her writing carries a conversational and contemplative quality, with themes that touch on faith, life, identity, memory and the small moments that invite deeper thought. Her personal blog, DiTza, is one space where she shares her poetry and reflections.

Edna is also the author of two children’s books, Alexia: The Highly Priced Princess and Meet Bobby the Farmer. Although poetry and writing remain a personal passion and hobby, her long-standing commitment to supporting writers, poets and literary platforms has made her a familiar contributor to Uganda’s growing literary and poetry scene.

For Edna, poetry is not simply about writing poems—it is about creating space for voices, stories and ideas to be heard.
