Dr. Ampat Koshy is a Pushcart nominee, poet, literary critic, editor, fiction writer-cum-anthologist, and an professor who has taught in several countries and universities. He has contributed to various anthologies and also published one collection of short stories, two poetry collections, one book on poetry, and two books of co-written essays. He has also edited or put together, and contributed to one critical anthology, three mixed anthologies, three poetry anthologies, and two short story anthologies.

Held a workshop on the portfolio in January 2013. Have done a presentation on poetry in 2014. Presently teaching Victorian Literature, Taught D Learning online. Designed M.A. course for the University in English Literature. Did a presentation on Dr. Santosh Bakaya’s works in 2017.
Did a presentation and workshop on blind peer reviewing in 2020. Teaching and Learning Unit Head for main English department and seven colleges. Presently Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, India.

The inaugural Dr. Ivan Edwards Poetry Award 2026 also includes a special US$200 prize for children. Young Ugandan poets (under 18) are invited to submit 2-minute spoken-word videos or 500-word poems themed “Unity” by January 20, 2026. Honoring Dr. Ivan Edwards, this category nurtures young literary talent, sparks creativity, and fosters national and global poetic voices in alignment with the Uganda Poetry Society’s collaborative vision.
